When deciding on which Reel to buy it is important to ask yourself how much are you prepared to spend, how long does it need to last for, where are you going to be fishing with it, what kind of fish are you going to be targeting and finally, whether you are going to be fishing with lures or bait.
If you don't know the answer to most of the above questions then the chances are, that you are new to fishing and it is best not to spend too much on a reel to begin with. Overhead, Baitcaster or Spin Reels?

If you enjoy lure fishing then you will want to consider a spin reel or a baitcaster. If the lures are going to be light (less than 20g) for finesse fishing, then a baitcaster is probably not for you. You need a fairly heavy lure to be able to cast with these reels. If you are going to be fishing with bait in deep water where a large line capacity is desirable then it is pretty hard to look past the overhead reels.
