Baitcaster Fishing Rods, Ideal for Barramundi, Swimbaits and Mangrove Jacks

Baitcaster Rods tend to be more popular than Spin/Threadline setups in the USA. They use them to target large mouth Bass and the reason that they are ideal is because once you get the hang of them, they are extremely accurate for casting lures. They are also the go to setup for fishos targeting Barra and Mangorve Jacks in creeks in Queensland. The reason people love them is because it is possible to thumb the spool when casting so you can drop your lure in exactly the right spot. As Barra and Jacks usually sit under cover or by a snag, unless you can get that lure right under their noses, you are not giving yourself the best chance for success.

One of the limitations of baitcaster setups is that it is harder to cast as far with lighter lures, so this is why you don't see tournament anglers using them for bream for example, as trying to get any distance from a 5 gram lure is almost impossible.

With all of the current excitement around the potential of swimbait lures (which tend to be heavier) we are beginning to see a lot of fishos switching to baitcaster setups for these lures.

Usually the rods are shorter than spinning rods but some of the swimbait specific options are being offered in a longer length.
